In a Queens hit-and-run, a man is struck by a car and seriously injured

Sunday night in Queens, a man was injured by a car that fled the scene after allegedly committing a hit-and-run, according to police.

According to authorities, the 65-year-old man was crossing Merrick Boulevard near 233rd Street in Laurelton shortly before 7 p.m. when he was struck by a dark-colored vehicle.

The driver is still at large, and the police investigation continues.

According to police, the vehicle drove off without stopping to check on the severely injured man.

In critical condition, he was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where he remained as of late Sunday night.
