The cosmetic surgery Sunny Hostin had last summer is now being discussed openly. The co-host of The View stated she took the decision to get surgery when she was left “sobbing” while getting ready for the White House Correspondents Dinner in April 2022. She underwent a breast reduction and lift as well as liposuction on her chin and waist in August 2022.
Hostin said that the Toni Maticevski gown she wore to the occasion didn’t fit her correctly in a recent interview with People.
I was sobbing, she admitted. I sat there without eating anything. I was unable to raise my hand because I was about to lose my boobs. Bell Biv DeVoe requested a photo with me. They’re going to have these photographs with my boobs sticking out, I thought to myself.
The attorney said that she had always been self-conscious about her appearance and that by the time she was 16 years old, she was a DD bra size. Hostin said that she was surprised by the increase in size of her breasts after the birth of her two children.
Hostin said that since joining The View in 2016, her problems with body image only became worse. The co-host said that due to her “short waist” and “large top,” she had to wear a “minimizer bra and a sports bra or a binder all the time.” The alternative was to purchase “a really huge dress,” in which case her stylist would attach “clips” to the back to ensure that “everything would fit.”
It was a “health choice and a self-care decision,” Hostin said, adding that she returned to work two weeks following the procedure and felt “like a better version of myself.”
“I imagined I would feel embarrassment, like, ‘Oh my God, I’m getting cosmetic surgery like all these insane celebs,’” she said. However, I have no shame at all. And I hope that by telling my experience, more people will benefit. If they are as self-conscious about their bodies as I was, they may take the necessary steps to feel better.
Hostin joked that she now “prance[s] around naked all the time” at her residence because she feels “wonderful” and is “so happy.” I don’t know, you could see me naked on The View, she joked.
