The View’s liberal co-host, Sunny Hostin, 53, said that she’s against abortion – even in cases of rape or incest because of her deep Catholic faith and upbringing

Sunny Hostin, a liberal co-host of The View, said on Monday that she draws a line in her opposition to abortion because of her fervent Catholic faith and doesn’t think there should be any exceptions, not even for cases of rape or incest.

“At any time, I don’t believe in abortion.” I don’t think there should be an exception, she declared.

Even rape and incest, Sarah Haines’ shocked co-host questioned.

Hostin, 53, answered, “No, I don’t.” Since I’m Catholic and that’s my faith, many people view it as being extremely radical.

She continued by stating that she disagrees with the idea that the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent decision to reverse Roe v. Wade and revoke the constitutional right to an abortion should have been influenced by religious conviction.

The newest justice, Ketanji Brown Jackson, is a Protestant, and there will also be two other Protestants on the bench in addition to one Jew and six Catholics, she added.

“This is an activist Supreme Court, and they shouldn’t be making legal decisions based on their religious convictions.”

Even while I concur with [Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito] that all human life is sacred, it is awful that he is so obviously utilizing his religion in this way.

Hostin was reared in The Bronx and is a lawyer by profession. He was born in New York City. She went to the Dominican Academy for Catholic high school and Notre Dame for law school.

Hostin has a history of making controversial statements on daytime chat shows.

Hostin referred to Republicans earlier this month as the “party of white supremacy” and “gun atrocities.”

The mass shooting at a Tulsa hospital on June 2 that left four people dead was being discussed by the ladies of The View.

She said, “Get rid of Republicans, get rid of the party.” Because of how the party is now structured, it is the party of white supremacy, insurrectionists, and massacres. You can’t trust the party; it is the party.

Hostin has not been well-liked, particularly internally.

Among other remarks made about minorities on the network in 2020, ABC News executive Barbara Fedida referred to Hostin as “cheap rent,” according to a story from HuffPo.

Black and Latina Hostin branded the comment racist.

When I discovered about the allegedly racist remarks made about me, my coworkers, and my dear friends, I was incredibly disappointed, upset, and wounded, she added.

She writes about her battle with infertility and her five miscarriages in her autobiography, “I Am These Truths: A Memoir of Identity, Justice, and Living Between Worlds.”

She and her husband were nevertheless able to conceive two children despite her difficulties with fertility.

She told The Grio, “Our journey includes bed rest, a ruptured placenta, five losses, IVF, and my baby almost not making it.”

She claimed that all of her suffering and anguish were worthwhile.

She remarked, “I believe you just keep going and realize that at the end of the day, it really is the most beautiful thing you can experience in my opinion.”

However, she hasn’t always adhered to Catholic theology, especially when it comes to the LGBTQ movement.

She criticized Bishop Thomas Joseph Tobin earlier this month after he tweeted that Catholics shouldn’t attend Pride Month events because “they promote a culture and encourage acts that are opposed to Catholic faith and morals.”

Bishop Tobin is of the Diocese of Providence in Rhode Island. Children are particularly vulnerable to their harm.

She would not be taking his advise, Hostin retorted.

She wrote, “This practicing Catholic will support and attend LGBTQ Pride celebrations.” “And my Catholic kids will too.” “You [Bishop Thomas Joseph Tobin] ought to be ashamed.”
