Kim Kardashian may be one of the most prominent sex symbols of our day, but don’t dare compare her to Raquel Welch in front of today’s The View crowd. In remembrance of the late actress, Sunny Hostin erroneously made the analogy, prompting vocal anger from the audience.
Whoopi Goldberg paid tribute to Welch, who passed away on February 15 after a “brief illness,” at the beginning of one of the show’s Hot Topics segments.
“We were so heartbroken to hear of the passing of one of the world’s most enduring sex symbols — the fabulous Raquel Welch,” she remarked. “Sail on, Raquel. Sail on.”
In the 1960s, the actress rose to prominence with her breakout appearances in Fantastic Voyage and One Million Years B.C., in which she donned a legendary deerskin bikini. Joy Behar, reflecting on her career, stated, “They don’t make sex symbols like that [anymore].”
When Sunny Hostin began, “Well, Kim Kardashian is —” she was interrupted off by a disapproving crowd, who loudly exclaimed, “No!”
