Sundowns Ladies defeat JVW FC with clinical first-half performance

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies defeated JVW FC 2-0 on Sunday at Wits Main Stadium in the most recent round of the Hollywoodbets Super League. The result was aided by an outstanding first half performance.

Chuene Morifi and Nonhlanhla Mthandi’s goals were enough for the Brazilians to earn maximum points and take a significant step towards maintaining their championship.

Sedilame Bosija began in goal for Coach Jerry ‘Kappa’ Tshabalala, while Bambanani Mbane, Regina Mogolola, Chuene Morifi, and Tiisetso Makhubela anchored the defensive line. Rhoda Mulaudzi, Oratile Mokwena, and Lelona Daweti began play in the midfield, while Nonhlanhla Mthandi, Boitamelo Rabale, and Melinda Kgadiete began play in attack.

The reigning champs began the game with a number of brilliantly executed offensive plays. In the seventh minute, early pressure paid reward when Chuene Morifi concluded a beautiful team move.

Nonhlanhla Mthandi’s goal just before the halftime break was the result of Kappa’s relentless offensive pressure.

After the restart, Boitumelo Rabale and Oratile Mokwena were replaced by Thalea Smidt and Chantelle Esau, respectively. Banyana Ba Style had numerous opportunities to score a third goal, but was unable to do so as the game finished 2-0 in favor of the defending champions.

Coach Jerry was ecstatic with his team’s double victory over JVW FC: “We are quite pleased with our performance today because we faced a very resolute opponent. As stated in the introduction, they are a team with tremendous offensive firepower against their opponents. We played with fresh determination and made sure to be remarkable on both ends of the field. This victory brings us closer to our objective of retaining the Hollywoodbets Super League championship. The crew deserves praise for a job well done.”

With this victory, the Brazilians now have 67 points after 22 victories in 25 games. Banyana Ba Style’s defense is the best in the league, allowing just 11 goals while scoring 95 times.

Boitumelo Rabale and Miche Minnies are tied for first place with 16 goals each on the Sundowns’ scoring chart. Andisiwe Mgcoyi has scored 10 goals, Melinda Kgadiete has scored 8, and Rhoda Mulaudzi has scored 7 goals.

On Wednesday, October 19 at Lucas Moripe Stadium, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies will face Coal City Wizards. The contest will commence at 15:00.
