Steve Bannon, a former adviser to Donald Trump, has turned himself in to New York State authorities, where he is likely to be charged with fraud for his “We Build the Wall” charity hoax.
Fox News reports that Bannon will give up his passport and be freed on no cash bail.
For his part in the fundraiser, Bannon has already entered a not guilty plea to two other federal counts of conspiracy to conduct mail fraud and money laundering. Prior to a trial, previous President Trump granted him a pardon.
The Soros-backed DA has now decided to pursue phone charges against me 60 days before the midterm election because WarRoom is the main source of the MAGA grassroots movement, said Bannon in a statement, according to Fox.
“Just days after being swatted three different times by deranged thugs from New York City inspired by the Biden Administration to assassinate me by police,” Bannon said in the statement.
In an effort to remove me from the race, the [Southern District of New York] carried out the exact same action in August 2020, according to Bannon.
“It didn’t work back then, and it won’t work today either.” Nothing more than the criminal justice system being used as a political weapon.
According to reports, Bannon himself is still unaware of the specific allegations against him since they are still under seal.
A week earlier, the office of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg phoned one of Bannon’s attorneys to advise him of the charge.
Bannon will be represented in court by David Schoen, who defended Trump during his second impeachment hearing.
In his remarks, Bannon said that before he would cease advocating for political reasons, the government would have to “murder” him.
“I am honoured to be a major advocate for border security and the construction of a wall to defend our nation from illegal narcotics and vicious criminals.
According to his announcement, this time’s WarRoom concert would be larger, more important, fierce, and urgent.
