Steve Bannon lashes at the January 6 committee

On the steps of a federal courthouse Wednesday, former Trump White House chief strategist Steve Bannon praised MAGA election victories and criticized the House Jan. 6th committee, while his lawyers prepared to argue inside to attempt to dismiss a contempt charge that could land him in jail.

Bannon took a shot at the House panel, which stated yesterday that a hearing scheduled for Wednesday on a dispute within Trump’s Justice Department had been canceled.

Following the unexplained delay, the next hearing will be held on Thursday.

‘Look, I’d want to express my gratitude to the J6 committee for canceling today’s meeting. Why do you think that is? Their numbers are terrible, and they can’t compete with Bannon’s trial,’ he joked.

‘That’s why they called it off.’ Who is it that says that? ‘It was Hispanic Americans in the Rio Grande Valley who blew away the Democratic Party last night,’ he remarked.

He was campaigning for Republican Mayra Flores, who won a special election to fill a Democratic-held seat.

‘This seat has been a democratic seat since Reconstruction and the Civil War, but the Democratic Party lost it last night,’ he said.

According to Nielsen numbers, about 20 million people watched the panel’s prime time hearing on Thursday, with another 10 million watching the daytime hearing on Monday.

The figure topped midday Trump impeachment proceedings and equaled Brett Kavanaugh Supreme Court nomination hearings as he was being accused of assault by Christine Blasey Ford.
