Shooting at Kagiso Tavern results in three deaths and six injuries.

The most recent incident at a bar in Kagiso, West Rand, left three people dead, including a woman, according to reports.

Inside around 22:30 on Friday, October 7, 2022, the incident took place at a liquor store in Soul City, Kagiso, Gauteng.

Brigadier Brenda Muridili, a spokesperson for the South African Police Service (SAPS), said there are rumors that a group of people assembled at a house and purchased alcohol.

Two Nguni-speaking suspects wearing balaclavas ambushed them as they were drinking and having fun and began firing indiscriminately both outside and inside the home.

According to Muridili, it is still unknown how the suspects escaped the scene. Investigations will include looking into the shooting’s motivation.

Paramedics on the scene pronounced two males and one woman, both between the ages of 45 and 46, dead while rushing six others to the nearby hospital for treatment.

Elias Mawela, the commissioner of the Gauteng Police, has mobilized all available resources to search the area and look into the occurrence.

Two counts of murder and six counts of attempted murder are under investigation by the provincial serious and violence crime section. Nobody has been detained as of yet. Police continue their inquiries.

Muridili stated that they are pleading with anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects to call the SAPS Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or send tip-offs through the MySAPS application.
