The management of the South African Police Service (SAPS) has ordered a high-level investigation into the tragic deaths of 21 teenagers at a local tavern in Scenery Park, in East London

A high-level investigation into the terrible murders of 21 youths at a neighborhood bar in Scenery Park, East London, has been requested by the management of the South African Police Service (SAPS).

The youngsters’ dead bodies were discovered in a nearby pub on Sunday morning at 4am, according to a report received by police from the Scenery Park Police Station.

Athlenda Mathe, a spokesperson for SAPS, stated: “Police discovered seventeen bodies inside the building upon arrival. Later, it was discovered that three further people passed away: one while being transported to a hospital and another while already there.

Twelve of the deceased are men, compared to nine female decedents.

A high-level group of crime scene experts visited the location on Sunday under the direction of National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola and Police Minister Bheki Cele.

To complement and support the Eastern Cape Crime Scene Investigations teams, the team includes bomb disposal specialists from the National Headquarters of the Criminal Record and Crime Scene Management Component.

At the neighborhood mortuary, where efforts were being made to identify the fatalities, the minister spoke with locals and the parents of the deceased. He urged locals and the families who had been affected to give police time to conduct their investigations.

“We have an experienced team that is assisting the provincial team to ensure that we uncover the true causes of these children’s deaths. The Minister stated, “We are also involving other parties to look into concerns of compliance with liquor legislation.

An inquest into the fatalities has been opened by the police.
