Kwazulu Private Ambulance Service went to reports of a collision on the N3 southbound near Cliffdale exit in Hammersdale.
When the emergency services showed there, they discovered that a car had overturned due to a loss of control.
Three individuals had critical injuries, two had serious injuries, and two had mild injuries, according to the quick assessment of the scene by paramedics.
Before being taken to the hospital for additional care, the patients received treatment on the spot.
Sadly, five of the passengers suffered fatal injuries and passed away from their wounds prior to the arrival of emergency personnel.
Despite the efforts of advanced life support paramedics, one patient who was in a critical condition started to deteriorate while being transported to the hospital and eventually passed away from their injuries.
