Seven dead and four injured in a three-vehicle collision on the N11, 40km outside Ladysmith

On Saturday evening, around 40 kilometres west of Ladysmith, a bakkie and two light motor vehicles crashed on the N11, resulting in seven deaths and four injuries, including two children.

The Provincial EMS was already on the scene when ER24 arrived at 18:30. Three destroyed vehicles were discovered in the middle of the road by the medics after closer assessment. There were several patients lying all across the vehicles.

Six persons had already passed away from their deadly injuries, according to an examination by medical personnel. They were pronounced dead since nothing could be done to save them.

On the scene, five additional people were being treated. A man, a woman, a boy, 13, and a girl, 5, were in severe condition, and another girl, thought to be 14, had just minor injuries.

The patients received treatment and advanced life support before being taken for urgent care to Ladysmith Provincial Hospital.

Sadly, the seriously injured man passed away from his wounds in the hospital.

Although the circumstances of this occurrence are unknown, local law enforcement was on the scene to conduct more investigations.
