Sarah Ferguson believes that Lisa Marie Presley died from a shattered heart after her son’s suicide in 2020.
“I believe she’s with Ben now,” the princess told Page Six exclusively on Saturday at the Memphis, Tennessee airport, where she had flown in from the United Kingdom before to Presley’s funeral service on Sunday at Graceland.
The Duchess of York stated that she was present to comfort Lisa Marie’s daughters, actress Riley Keogh, 33, and twins Finley and Harper, 14 years old.
Ferguson informed us that we must ensure Finley, Riley, and Harper have full support moving forward.
“She was incredibly proud of them. She used to write to me, “Yeah, I’m gushing right now about how wonderful my children are.”
Ferguson, 63, also referenced Lisa Marie’s mother, Priscilla Presley, remarking, “We also need to take care of Priscilla, don’t we?”
The former wife of Prince Andrew, better known by her moniker Fergie, was a longstanding acquaintance of the performer.
As reported exclusively by Page Six, the two were friends when Lisa Marie and her ex-husband Michael Lockwood lived in Sussex, England.
When Lisa Marie moved back to the United States, “they became quite close and maintained contact,” the friend stated. And she was extremely supportive of the Duchess during difficult times.
Following the announcement of Lisa Marie’s passing, Ferguson turned to Instagram to mourn her buddy.
“I say hello to you every day and I love you, my sister, and I will continue to say hello to you every day,” she captioned a snapshot of the two of them hugging.
“You were my sister, an incredible mother to Ben, Riley, Harper, and Finley, and Priscilla’s most adoring daughter. You have been my loyal friend for many years, and I am here to support and adore your family. I am heartbroken, my dear sister; you are in my heart,” she wrote.
Lisa Marie, the only child of rock and roll legend Elvis Presley, died of cardiac arrest on January 12 at the age of 54.
“It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has passed away,” Priscilla, 77, said at the time. She was the most ardent, courageous, and loving woman I had ever met.
Lisa Marie will be interred alongside her son at Graceland.
