Following the unexpected death of Lisa Marie Presley, the only daughter of rock and roll superstar Elvis Presley, tributes are pouring in from throughout the nation.
Thursday morning, Lisa, 54, was discovered comatose in her home in Calabasas, California. Her husband Danny Keough reportedly attempted to resuscitate her prior to the arrival of the paramedics, who then transported her to the hospital.
Her mother, Priscilla Presley, released the following statement: “It is with a sad heart that I must deliver the tragic news that my beautiful daughter, Lisa Marie, has left us.
“She was the most ardent, courageous, and loving woman I’ve ever known. We want privacy as we attempt to cope with this tragic loss.”
Priscilla provided no information regarding Lisa’s cause of death.
Grammy-winning artist Diane Warren referred to Lisa’s passing as “horrible news” and stated that “the entire world is sending love and prayers to Priscilla and Lisa Marie’s children right now.”
Brian Wilson, co-founder of the Beach Boys, stated, “It’s difficult to accept when someone so young and full of life passes away.”
Oscar-winning actress Marlee Matlin wrote on Twitter, “As a mother, I can’t imagine the pain Cilla Presley must be experiencing following Lisa Marie’s untimely death.” Matlin met Lisa’s mother, Cilla Presley, when she was a contestant on Dancing With The Stars.
I had the opportunity to meet @Cilla Presley during my time on Dancing With the Stars, and as a mother, I cannot fathom the anguish she must be experiencing following the terrible death of Lisa Marie. I imagine a young Lisa Marie becoming older. RIP Lisa Marie Presley
