Ryan Reynolds is struggling with a ‘Deadpool 3’ concept, but fans have one

Although there is a fantastic comic concept just ready to be mined, Ryan Reynolds claims he is trying to come up with the ideal approach for his beloved character Deadpool to infiltrate the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Hugh Jackman will play Wolverine in “Deadpool 3” in 2024, Ryan Reynolds said in a video posted to the actor’s YouTube account on Tuesday. However, Reynolds confessed he knows “nothing” more about the character’s MCU entrance.

“Obviously, his debut appearance in the MCU has to be memorable. Reynolds remarked, “Every ‘Deadpool’ has to stand out and stand different. We need to be faithful to the character. It’s a tremendous task that has made me dig deep within and find nothing.”

Fans, however, think that the third installment of “Deadpool” should go in a very clear route.

Why do fans desire that?

It would be a hilariously ironic allusion to 2012’s “Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe” book by Cullen Bunn and Dalibor Talajic if Deadpool wiped out Fox’s Marvel Universe (characters mostly from the “X-Men,” “Fantastic Four,” and “Daredevil” movies since 2000).

Deadpool embarks on a murdering rampage in the “what if”-style series, brutally dispatching every Marvel hero and villain, including the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, The Avengers, and even Wolverine.

In “Deadpool Killustrated,” the Merc with a Mouth takes out fictitious figures that served as the inspiration for Marvel characters like the Little Mermaid and Count Dracula. It was so well received that it led to a several sequels.

The rights to utilize Marvel movie characters including the X-Men, Deadpool, and Fantastic Four that were formerly used in Fox productions were acquired by Disney in 2019 along with the rest of 20th Century Fox’s entertainment holdings. Disney is putting the finishing touches on its own reboots of the “Fantastic Four” and, ultimately, the “X-Men” rather than adapting earlier movies.

The agreement offers the ideal chance to produce a live-action depiction of Deadpool destroying the Marvel Universe without it being forced.

This would be a no-brainer given that Deadpool already breaches the fourth wall, makes pop culture allusions, and is aware of the Disney/Fox contract. In addition to giving Jackman and other celebrities a chance to make cameo appearances, it would also give fans a chance to bid farewell to the original movies, which served as the cornerstone of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Deadpool may even pick and choose which characters he wants to see included in the MCU.

How may Wolverine be involved?

Great inquiry. It’s difficult to tell, but Deadpool made it apparent in the previous two movies that he’s a great admirer of Jackman, so it seems like a good match.

If Marvel chooses the “Deadpool Kills” path, Wolverine and Deadpool may work together or compete as the latter seeks to stop Deadpool from destroying Fox’s Marvel world.

But who’s to say we’d even get to see the familiar Wolverine? Jackman may be portraying a different Wolverine from a different era.

The superb 2017 film “Logan,” which was based on an alternative future incarnation of the character from the “Old Man Logan” comic book, killed off his character from the Fox flicks. But given that the MCU established the concept of the multiverse, it’s possible that Jackman’s Wolverine already lives in a different MCU-created other universe.

Currently scheduled for release on September 6, 2024, “Deadpool 3” is directed by Shawn Levy (“Free Guy”).
