INGREDIENTS

  • 500 g plain cake flour

  • 250 ml beer (my personal preference is Black Label!)

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1⁄2 tsp black pepper

  • 1 1⁄2 tsp turmeric (add more if you like a stronger colour and flavour)

  • 1⁄2 cup of pumpkin seeds (roughly chopped)

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1⁄2 tsp sugar

  • 2-3 tbsp. sesame seeds (optional)

METHOD

  • To make this bread recipe, start by combining all the dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl and mix them well.
  • Slowly add beer to the dry mix, and if the dough is too runny, add more flour.
  • Preheat your oven to 180°C, and while it’s heating up, cover the dough and allow it to rest in a warm area for 30 to 45 minutes.
  • Once the dough has rested, spray a bread pan with cooking spray.
  • Skipping this step can lead to disappointment and frustration since you won’t be able to get the loaf out of the pan easily.
  • Next, add the dough to the bread tin. Brush the top of the dough with oil and dust it with sesame seeds and a few whole pumpkin seeds.
  • Bake the bread for 45 to 55 minutes, or until it’s golden brown.
  • Once done, remove it from the oven and allow it to cool.
  • After the bread has cooled, it’s ready to be served and enjoyed!
