Princess Anne curtsied before the Queen’s coffin on film

When the coffin of her mother, Queen Elizabeth II, arrived at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh on Sunday, Princess Anne bowed to it.

At the age of 96, the Queen passed away on Thursday at Balmoral Castle. From Balmoral to Holyroodhouse, the royal family’s official home in the Scottish capital, the monarch’s casket travelled six hours. As previously reported by Insider, Anne and her husband Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence made the trip in a vehicle that was towed by the hearse.

Following their arrival in Edinburgh, Anne and other royal family members gathered in front of the palace to pay their respects as the Queen’s casket was brought inside.

The poignant moment Anne curtsied to her mother’s coffin is captured on camera by BBC News and posted on Twitter by Royal Central.

According to the Scottish Government website, there will be a procession on Monday when the Queen’s casket is transferred from Holyroodhouse to the neighbouring St Giles Cathedral, where people will be able to pay their respects.

The royal website notes that the Queen’s body will lie in state in the cathedral before being moved to Westminster Hall in London on Wednesday, where the public will be welcome to pay respects until her burial on Monday, September 19.
