Police have released images of the tattoos on a young woman’s body that was found washed up on a beach in East Sussex three months ago.
The woman’s body was discovered by a member of the public in late December in Saltdean, a coastal village in Brighton and Hove.
Police have been unable to identify the woman, who is believed to be between 20 and 25 years old, white, around 5ft 4ins tall, and of a slim to medium build.
She was wearing a purple sports bra, dark mauve sports leggings, and black Converse boots with the original white trim.
Maritime authorities believe the woman’s body had not been in the water for much more than a day before it was found.
It is possible that her body entered the water farther down the coast to the west and was carried to where it was found with the tide.
The woman had four distinctive tattoos on her arms and legs, depicting an insect that looks like a beetle, a cat’s face, the silhouetted skyline of a city, and a bird.
Sussex Police have made extensive enquiries to identify the woman, but these have been unsuccessful so far.
They have now released photos of her tattoos in the hope of identifying her.
Anyone who recognises the tattoos or has any information about the woman is urged to contact the police by calling 101 and quoting serial 598 of 20/12.
