Eliza Fletcher, a teacher who was taken while on a morning jog on Friday, was identified as the body located in Memphis on Monday, Memphis Police confirmed Tuesday.

Friday around 4:30 a.m., Eliza Fletcher was thrown into a vehicle while running near the University of Memphis, according to police.

Sunday, police said they arrested and charged 38-year-old Cleotha Abston in connection with Fletcher’s kidnapping. Abston was charged with particularly severe kidnapping and evidence manipulation. Tuesday, authorities announced that Abston was also charged with first-degree murder for kidnapping.

According to a police affidavit obtained by CBS News, Fletcher’s husband reported her missing when she failed to return from her regular run. A witness spotted Fletcher’s phone and sandals at her last known location and delivered them to her family, who subsequently turned them over to authorities.

Moreover, according to the affidavit, surveillance footage revealed a black SUV with a damaged right tail light waiting in the area where Fletcher’s phone was discovered. The affidavit, according to CBS News, also stated that footage showed a guy sprinting towards Fletcher and the two battling as he attempted to force her into the vehicle.

US Marshals located the SUV on Saturday and arrest Abston after a brief pursuit. The shoes contained Abston’s DNA, and the SUV was comparable to the one possessed by the woman with whom he was staying.

On the morning of Fletcher’s disappearance, the woman with whom he was staying informed authorities that she observed Abston cleaning out his car and his clothes. The affidavit states that she informed officers Abston was “acting really oddly.”

According to The Daily Beast, Fletcher is the granddaughter of Joseph Orgill III, co-founder of the Memphis-based hardware wholesaler Orgill Inc, and heiress to the business.
