After threatening police officers, a masked man armed with a gun was shot in front of a horrified restaurant staff.

Tuesday around 3 p.m., a man in his 30s was struck at least once in the stomach outside The Greek Club on Edmondstone Street in South Brisbane.

The entire circumstances surrounding the deadly shooting have yet to be disclosed, but preliminary information indicates that officers were dispatched to the restaurant “due to the behavior of a man.”

The man in his 30s was shot numerous times by police shortly before 3 p.m. outside The Greek Club restaurant in South Brisbane after he threatened them.

Police said in a statement, “After a brief confrontation with officers, it is believed he threatened them and was shot.”

The man passed away at the spot.

With a crime scene established between Russell and Melbourne streets, police have closed Edmonstone Street between Russell and Melbourne streets for several hours.

A worker at the Greek Club who claimed hearing multiple gunshots told the Courier Mail, “Our manager was outside when he heard the bullets and then yelled, ‘Everyone get down!’”

We hid in an office for approximately ten minutes out of fear that it was a psychotic gunman.

Edmonstone Street has been closed between Russell and Melbourne streets because a crime scene has been declared, and the closure is expected to last several hours.
