Police Search for More Babysitter Victims Who Took Explicit Photos of Child

Last week, a babysitter and former lifeguard was accused with taking sexually graphic photographs of a youngster in his care. Detectives are investigating if he may have abused additional children in the Seattle region.

King County Prosecutors accused Antonio Diego Brugnoli-Baskin, 23, on October 10 with sexual exploitation of a juvenile, as well as distribution and possession of depictions of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

While the SPD does not generally identify suspects in the Blotter, detectives have discovered that Brugnoli-Baskin has dealt with children for several years. Police are currently investigating whether he has abused other children and families.

After receiving many tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding photographs and videos of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) uploaded to the internet from a Seattle address, detectives began investigating Brugnoli-Baskin. When SPD detectives, with the assistance of the FBI and Homeland Security, detained Brugnoli-Baskin, they uncovered CSAM material involving at least one child in his care.

Recently, Brugnoli-Baskin advertised as a child care provider on the Care.com website for Magnolia and Wallingford families. He worked as a lifeguard and swim instructor at public pools in Magnolia and Queen Anne, as a ski instructor at Snoqualmie Pass, and at the Wallingford Farmer’s Market between 2018 and 2020.

The police continue their investigation into Brugnoli-Baskin and their quest for evidence concerning other Seattle youngsters and families.

Any families whose children may have been left in Brugnoli-Baskin’s care can contact SPD’s Internet Crimes Against Children detective at christine.nichols@seattle.gov.
