According to Merseyside Police, two weapons were involved in the shooting that murdered nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel.
Detective Chief Superintendent Mark Kameen made the startling admission as Merseyside Police released surveillance footage of the man departing the scene while wearing a balaclava.
It is incomprehensible how anyone could defend the person guilty for the death of a nine-year-old girl, Mr. Kameen said, adding that those who are “shielding” the offender will “do all legally possible to bring you to justice.”
On Thursday afternoon, Mr. Kameen provided an update, noting that the investigation had made “great progress” and that it was thought the shooter had two firearms with him when he “callously fled from Olivia’s residence.”
Merseyside Police revealed CCTV footage of the shooter fleeing the area where Olivia Pratt-Korbel was fatally shot.
Last Monday night in Liverpool’s Dovecot neighborhood, an assailant wearing a balaclava chased his intended victim into Olivia’s home and shot her in the chest.
Following the child’s passing, the Merseyside community has expressed its shock and grief by placing cards and wreaths by Olivia’s family house.
In connection with Olivia’s death last week, a 36-year-old man from Huyton and a 33-year-old man from Dovecot were detained and later released on bail on suspicion of murder and two charges of attempted murder.
On Thursday, Mr. Kameen addressed the media and said, “I am going to show you footage of the man who murdered little Olivia.” I’m taking this action in case someone recognizes his clothing.

Police claim that video shows the shooter racing down Finch Lane away from Kingsheath Avenue before turning right onto Berryford Road and disappearing.

Police also disclosed that Cheryl Korbel, Olivia’s mother, was still being treated for her wounds and was “still in pain” as a result of the tragedy.
