Police arrests a fourth man in connection with the killing of nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel


A fourth man has been arrested in connection with the murder of nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel, according to police.

Merseyside Police said the 34-year-old man from Liverpool was detained on suspicion of helping a criminal after being stopped by police on the M42 in the Midlands.

He is now being interrogated by police.

Officers investigating the killing of Olivia, who was shot at her house in Dovecot, Liverpool, on August 22nd, have detained three further males in the span of twenty-four hours.

A spokesperson for the NYPD said that the man’s car was confiscated after his detention on Sunday evening.

In the early hours of Sunday, a 34-year-old man from Liverpool was detained in the Runcorn region on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

A 41-year-old man from Knowsley and a 29-year-old man from Liverpool are being interrogated on suspicion of assisting a criminal.

Sunday saw the execution of warrants at two locations in Liverpool, according to police.

Olivia was shot in the chest on August 22 by a shooter wearing a balaclava who was alleged to be involved in a gangland conflict and was pursuing a paroled ex-convict in the Dovecot neighbourhood of the city.

Olivia’s mother, 46-year-old Cheryl Korbel, had opened the door to check what was going outside when 35-year-old Joseph Nee pushed his way inside the home.

The attacker fired shots into the residence, striking Olivia, her mother Cheryl, and the fleeing 35-year-old in the upper body.

Detective Chief Superintendent and head of investigations Mark Kameen said: ‘I continue to urge anyone who has information that can help our investigation into Olivia’s tragic murder to please come forward so we can bring those responsible to justice.

‘A number of people have been arrested in respect of this investigation.

‘However, we still need the public’s help in ensuring that we can a build a strong evidential picture so justice is served for Olivia and her family.

‘With this, I appeal for those who may have information, no matter how small, that could continue to help our inquiries to contact us directly or anonymously and we will do the rest.’

In connection to Olivia’s death, a 36-year-old man from Huyton and a 33-year-old man from Dovecot who were arrested on suspicion of murder and two counts of attempted murder have been freed on bail.
