Johannesburg – After failing to score in three consecutive matches, Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro is “very optimistic” that his team will identify the weakness of opponents.
After defeating TS Galaxy 2-0 at home, the Pirates entered the international break with a high level of confidence in their scoring potential.
After signing strikers Kermit Erasmus from Mamelodi Sundowns and Phillip Ndondo from Marumo Gallants, expectations increased.
The first leg of the MTN8 semi-final between Pirates and Sundowns ended in a scoreless draw, despite the fact that Pirates had four shots on goal.
They were supposed to improve against Sekhukhune United on Tuesday night in Polokwane, but instead they were defeated 2-0.
On Saturday at home, the Pirates were predicted to end their winless streak of two games. However, they were held scoreless by rookies Richards Bay.

After Saturday’s stalemate, the Pirates stayed in fourth place on the standings with 15 points, four points behind league leaders Sundowns.
The Spaniard forecasts “an intriguing battle this season.” But their dominance in crucial sectors gives them hope that they will achieve success.
“[I’m] Not at all concerned. As previously stated, this is a difficult competition. “You can see how difficult it is to win a game or score a goal in this league,” Riveiro added.
“Nobody is receiving easy victories. We are still in the beginning stages of the competition, and October will be a tough month for everyone in the league.
“We continue to have difficulty converting our offensive opportunities into goals. This is what prevents us from being a more consistent team.
“However, the fact that we are a highly competitive squad in every aspect of the game, press the opponent into their own box, defend well, and transition effectively gives me hope.”
