On Christmas Day, a woman from Klipspruit West was stabbed to death

On Christmas day, a 40-year-old woman from Klipspruit West, south of Johannesburg, was murdered. Ex-husband allegedly stabbed ex-wife Janine Williams to death in her own home.

The unfortunate occurrence occurred when her daughter was present. Her former spouse allegedly stabbed her twelve times.

After the vicious assault, the ex-husband ran from the family home and was arrested by JMPD officers after evading a roadblock.

On Wednesday, the culprit was arrested and presented in court.

The couple’s divorce was allegedly finalized on November 14, 2022, but the magistrate granted the offender’s plea to remain in the family home until January 20, 2023. Apparently, the relationship was abusive.

Residents of Klipspruit are outraged by the homecoming of the alleged murderer of Janine Williams, and have begun a community group chat to organize a petition to keep him behind bars.

One of the residents, Joy Duimpies, stated, “This relationship was abusive, and after going to court to finalize the divorce, the magistrate should have denied the perpetrator’s request to stay in the family home until January 2023, as the primary reason for the divorce was abuse, which led to the death of Janine.” If he had been absent from the family home, Janine would have survived.

“So often, when we call the police, they claim it’s domestic violence and leave, causing more injuries or, in this case, death, because the law doesn’t take its cause seriously. Even if the police come to the house, they have a brief conversation with the perpetrator before leaving.”
