27-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of murder after man was stabbed to death in south-west London

After a man was fatally stabbed in south-west London, a 27-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of murder.

Just before 10 p.m. on Monday, the man, said to be 34, was discovered wounded on Lower Richmond Road in Mortlake (July 18).

He was attended to on the spot and transferred to the hospital, but he passed away around 30 minutes later. Officers are at now trying to notify the next of kin.

According to the Metropolitan Police, the suspect and the victim knew one another.

The suspect was detained close to the incident.

‘I understand local residents will be shocked when they hear about this incident, but I want to reassure them that a team of specially trained and experienced detectives are already working to establish the full circumstances,’ said Superintendent Roger Arditti from the South West Command Unit, which covers Richmond.

‘While an arrest has been made and detectives are already speaking to witnesses, I would urge anyone who was in the area around the time of the murder and who saw anything they think could assist the investigation to please get in touch.

‘You will also see local officers in and around the area; they are there to help and any residents who have concerns should approach them and speak to them.’
