A nine-month-old newborn girl who was discovered dead in a residence filled with soiled diapers and mounds of garbage was suffering from Covid-19 at the time of her death, according to her mother, who was heard crying ‘Go, go, go’ on the night she died.
After responding to a concern for welfare complaint, police discovered the ‘unresponsive’ newborn inside the residence in Doonside, Sydney’s west, about 10 a.m. on Monday. The youngster was unable to be resuscitated.
Her parents, both in their 30s, were also afflicted with Covid, although the official cause of death is still unknown to authorities.
As investigators talked with the baby’s parents, officers blocked off the scene.
According to the couple, they awakened to see the newborn girl and dialed Triple-0.
However, fresh information released on Tuesday reveals’small differences’ in what each parent told police in later interviews, according to 7News.
Residents voiced their shock and grief at the awful loss.
Neighbors allege they heard loud disputes coming from two adults in the home on a regular basis, but the family of four children ‘had not gone out for the previous week or two.’
On Sunday night, witnesses reported hearing the 32-year-old mother yelling to her lover, ‘Go, go, go.’
The pair was arrested and escorted to the Blacktown police station for interrogation. They were not charged.
The Daily Mail Australia does not believe the couple is to blame for the baby’s death.
On Tuesday, the Daily Mail Australia was greeted with a foul odor rising from the house, as well as diapers on the sidewalk and overflowing trash thrown on top of a shopping cart.
Beer bottles, trash, and broken toys litter the yard.
Garbage streams out the front door onto the verandah of the home, where paramedics took away the infant the day before.
Jessica, who lives behind the run-down house, claimed she reported two starving pet dogs she saw in the back yard to the RSPCA, who took the animals. ‘I saw the dogs, but not the children.’ ‘I was feeling so bad that I didn’t see anything,’ she told the Daily Mail Australia.
‘I heard them (the children’s parents) yelling at each other… arguing. I never seen the child.’ Karen, another neighbor, claimed she had seen “all the kids out on the back patio laughing and playing” a few weeks ago, but the family had not been outdoors since.
‘I suppose the parents had some troubles,’ Karen said. ‘It’s a tragedy.’ I’m not sure whether it was an accident or a natural death.
‘I was truly heartbroken that someone so young would not be able to continue with their lives.’
I’ve lived in this town for 33 years and have seen the odd incident, but Jason was slain a year ago. It’s sad that so many young people have died.’
Ms Nicholas was referring to 16-year-old Jason Galleghan, who was discovered with head and chest injuries on August 4 last year at a residence on Perigee Close, close the property where the nine-month-old was discovered dead.
Jason was discovered unconscious and was sent to Westmead Hospital, where he was confirmed dead.
Five teens, including Kayla Dawson, 19, have now been charged with Jason’s murder.
Carol-Ann, another neighbor of the filthy home where the infant supposedly died, claimed she heard fighting on multiple occasions, especially in the evening.
‘I heard shouting from inside while walking by,’ she claimed.
There have been no charges filed, and forensic investigators are attempting to ascertain the baby’s cause of death.
