Mxolisi Buthelezi, Umkhanyakude District Chairperson of EFF, dies in KZN

Mxolisi Buthelezi, the EFF’s Umkhanyakude District Chairperson, was shot and killed in KwaZulu-Natal.

Buthelezi was shot on his way to attend organizational tasks on Thursday, June 2, according to the party.

Condemning Buthelezi’s murder, the EFF is urging the SAPS to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death, leaving no stone unturned.

Mxolisi Buthelezi was attacked by an unknown car in a drive-by shooting after leaving his home in Ogengele, KZN.

The EFF District Chairperson died on the spot, while another EFF member who was with him was injured and taken to the hospital.

The EFF said in a statement that Buthelezi was a dedicated community activist who proudly served his people.

“Not only was Buthelezi the Regional Chairperson of the EFF in Umkhanyakude, but he was also a councillor and an Executive Member, under the municipality. The EFF is deeply saddened by his passing.”

According to the EFF, KZN continues to be a slaughter for political killings, with the ruling government doing little to stop it.
