Sibusiso “Sbu” Buthelezi, a former presenter at Ukhozi FM, has come under fire from Twitter users for allegedly using the radio station to con listeners into investing in his business, Abombuso Investment.

On Wednesday night’s episode of Checkpoint, an investigative current events program on eNCA, Sbu Buthelezi was discussed.

He was fired by the radio station on June 29, 2022.

Victims Describe How SBU Buthelezi Swindled Them

Following the interview, the former Indumiso host topped social media trending topics lists, and many criticized him for being haughty and unwilling to accept responsibility for the alleged swindle.

According to a victim who lost his job with SAA in 2020, he invested R40,000 of his provident fund but only received R6,000 of the promised profits.

Another victim, Vusi Mbatha, deposited R200 000 of his provident fund in Buthelezi’s company and said he never received the promised returns.

According to Mbatha, they assured Buthelezi during their meeting in Randburg in December that they would receive their returns in January 2022.

“We received nothing in January.

He promised to send us SMS messages with our returns between the 7th and 15th of each month in February, but nothing like that happened.

According to reports, Buthelezi made a deposit of R16 500, and that is the last payment made to Mbatha.

Buthelezi maintained that he never alerted investors of the situation in his Tuesday advertising slot on Ukhozi FM and said that things started to go wrong at Abombuso Investment in 2020 as a result of an avian flu outbreak.

He steadfastly declined to specify how many people had invested in Abombuso or when they would receive their money back.
