Nigerian Government Inaugurates the Interim Management Committee for the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF)

You may recollect that the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, approved the suspension of Nigerian basketball teams from international competitions for a period of two years as a result of the Federation’s long-running crisis, with the promise of forming an Interim Management Committee (IMC) in a short time.
For the duration of the withdrawal, the IMC will be in charge of the federation’s affairs. As a result, plans have been finalized to launch the IMC on June 4, 2022, at the Indoor Sports Hall, Package ‘B’ Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja. An exhibition match between two FCT schools will take place prior to the game.
The committee is expected to launch a youth basketball league and a domestic league upon its inauguration to assist in the development of domestic players so that we can have a pool of players to represent the country in international tournaments after the withdrawal period.
This will start the ball rolling by providing opportunities for our local players to compete on a regular basis at home, thereby elevating their status to the point where they can receive scholarships to universities all over the world and clubs to play for, thereby improving their living standards, which will have a positive impact on Nigeria’s economy.
The following are the members of the Interim Management Committee (IMC), who will be sworn in by the government on Saturday:
