Ugu district municipality in KZN mourns the loss of district mayor Phumlile Mthiyane

Following the death of district mayor Phumlile Mthiyane, the people of Ugu district municipality in KwaZulu-Natal and its environs are in grief.

Mthiyane died on Monday, according to France Zama, a spokesperson for the municipality.

“It is with deep shock and sorrow that we announce the untimely passing of the mayor of the municipality, Phumlile Mthiyane, who was called to her eternal rest during the early hours of Monday morning,” said Zama.

“The dark cloud seems to have fallen upon our municipality during this period. We therefore request your thoughts and prayers for the family during this painful loss.”

Mthiyane died two days after Dr. Elliot Ntombela, the manager of the KwaZulu-Natal south coast municipality, passed away in hospital over the weekend.

Once the funeral preparations have been finalized, according to Zama, they will be announced.
