Multiple fatalities in three different crashes in Free State

The Free State Emergency Services have verified that eight persons were killed in three different vehicle incidents early on Friday morning.

In the first accident, five people were killed when two minibus taxis collided on the N6 Road between Reddersburg and Bloemfontein. Eleven individuals sustained significant injuries and were sent to local hospitals.

In the second incident, one person was killed when a taxi and a car collided on the same section of the N6 near Smithfield.

Two persons were killed when a truck and two automobiles collided on the N3 road near Villiers.

Since the beginning of the holiday season, the province has experienced a string of fatal traffic accidents, including a horrific bus accident on the N8 in November, in which a bus collided with a truck. The tragedy resulted in eight fatalities and more than sixty injuries.

William Bulwane, the Free State MEC for Police, Roads, and Transport, urged motorists to be cautious and to always obey the regulations of the road in order to prevent needless road accidents and fatalities.
