The Duchess, 41, formerly known as Meghan Markle before she wed the Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, claimed she was told by an actor in the 2019 Disney remake of the animated classic that South Africans “rejoiced” when they learned she was marrying into the royal family in the same way they did when Nelson Mandela was set free.
“The Cut” magazine quoted Meghan as saying, “I just had Archie. Such a horrible chapter, I tell you. I was afraid to go.
The Duchess described how a South African actor approached her and took her away at the 2019 film screening, according to Allison P Davis, who interviewed her for “The Cut.”
“I simply need you to know, when you married into our family, we cheered in the streets exactly as we did when Mandela was released from jail,” the Duchess recalled.
