Man allegedly raped a British tourist in Italy

A female British traveller who was touring in southern Italy alleges that she was sexually attacked in her sleep by a guy who gave her a room for the night.

The 20-year-old lady had spent Sunday at the Amalfi Coast with a friend, but after missing the last bus back to their guest house in Pompeii, the two ended up spending the night at the residence of the 27-year-old guy.

The next morning, she informed the police that she had been assaulted while she was sleeping while her buddy slept in the same room.

After missing their bus, the lady and her companion encountered the guy, who is from the Gambia but is legally residing in Italy. The woman informed the police.

Before he gave them a place to stay, the group spent the evening drinking in bars in the town of Minori, where he resides, according to Repubblica.

On the condition that they would share a room, the lady agreed.

The next morning, when the 20-year-old discovered what she thought to be evidence of an assault, she went to the police.

Officers took her to a local hospital for a checkup, but the medical staff was unable to locate any proof that she had been assaulted.

Local prosecutors will now determine whether to file charges against the individual after receiving the case.

According to Italian media, the traveller has been allocated a psychologist, a social worker, and a lawyer for help.
