An affluent 30-year-old American man is charged with raping a British woman while on vacation in Mykonos.
Greek media reported that the 22-year-old woman from Preston, Lancashire, told police that she met the man on Saturday afternoon in one of the pubs on the party island. The male resides in New York and comes from a wealthy family.
The group allegedly went back to the woman’s hotel room to continue the party with her and his friends’ group.
She alleges that he followed her into the bathroom of her hotel room and assaulted her there. The 30-year-old man denied the allegations and insisted that she granted her consent.
The 22-year-old told Greek police that despite trying to push him away and telling him in vain that I wasn’t feeling sexual activity, he pushed me to have sex with him.
According to the Greek news outlet Proto Thema, “but he persevered and with his might managed to squeeze me and paralyze me.”
A case was filed against the woman’s suspected American rapist after the victim underwent a forensic examination with the Mykonos Police Department.
The man will appear before the prosecutor in Syros First Instance.
Another 22-year-old Danish lady claimed that on Saturday night, she was raped. Proto Thema claims that the man met her in Mykonos Town, where she claims he forced her to have sex with him, and then drove her back to her hotel in the Argyraina district.
She allegedly was raped, and the man is said to have left her hotel afterward. Around 8.50 on Sunday morning, she reported the crime to police.
She characterized the man as being her age, 5 feet 9 inches tall, with black hair and dark eyes, and dressed in black jeans and a red t-shirt. She gave this description to the Mykonos Police Sub-Directorate.
Police are reportedly looking for the alleged rapist.
On a different Greek island, a British man was only recently accused of raping his own daughter.
Another British visitor claimed in early June that the taxi driver who picked her up from a bar in the early hours of May 31 had abused her in Crete.
In Hersonissos, a popular tourist area, the 43-year-old woman reported the incident to the police, alleging that the driver had sexually assaulted her inside the vehicle rather than driving her to her hotel.
A British mother told Corfu police earlier in May, according to a police source, that she woke up after a night out to find a hotel staffer on top of her.
A 40-year-old male who was detained by police allegedly rejected the allegations and said the sex had been consensual, according to a police source.
When she arrived, the woman was in “bad condition,” according to the officers. In order to report the event, she traveled to a police station in the island’s northern area. She later identified the hotel employee who had been hauled in by police as the person she had been attacked by.
The woman and her boyfriend had been on vacation in northern Corfu, a police source who spoke to The Sun said.
The couple returned to the hotel after a night out, but when the woman woke up, the male was on top of her, the insider claimed.
