Love Island episode 7 review: Luca says he finds Paige attractive and saves her from being evicted

Week two of Love Island has officially begun, and the tension has already ramped up in the first five minutes.

Who’d have guessed a simple conversation could cause so much havoc?

Luca Bish wondered why Andrew Le Page didn’t seem upset after Jacques O’Neill and Tasha Ghouri were seen enjoying a chinwag in the corner.

‘I couldn’t care less to be honest.’

Luca responded to his remark with, ‘No, no, you do care, nah mate, I would care.  I would admit I am upset.’

Andrew, on the other hand, is adamant: ‘I am not upset.’

After Andrew went away in annoyance, microbiologist Dami Hope expressed his displeasure with Luca’s behavior and stated why he avoids him.

Indiyah Polack and Ikenna Ekwonna exchanged their first kiss and, if that wasn’t enough, the pharmaceutical salesperson surprised the hotel waitress with a romantic breakfast date.

And Davide Sanclimenti was inspired by Ikenna’s act to serve egg and bread to Ekin-Su Cülcülolu, or ‘tapas,’ as Davide put it.

We don’t know whether Davide is coming or going, given that the Italian stallion offered Ekin-Su and Jacques refreshments during their intimate conversation the night before.

The good vibes continued when Amber Beckford and Dami set off on their first date, which was themed around tennis.

Meanwhile, fans have been rooting for paramedic Paige Thorne since Luca’s relationship with Gemma Owen began, and when Gemma’s ex-boyfriend, Jacques, praised her as “a lovely girl,” we’re keeping our fingers crossed for her.

We all saw Luca yesterday night arranging future baecation trips for him and Gemma, so we can certainly conclude that he is clearly infatuated with the international dressage rider, but Jacques’ magnificent presence left him unsettled, to put it mildly.

While both Gemma and Jacques have made it apparent that they have no romantic feelings for each other, Luca couldn’t help but stake his claim.

‘What you’re saying lads,’ Jacques asked.

‘I’m about to kiss your ex,’ Luca quipped.

While his method may have been questionable, witnessing Luca in love is wholesome, and while Gemma isn’t giving anything away just yet (not even a decent kiss, much to Luca’s displeasure), we’re curious to see how this develops.

The mood abruptly changed when Amber received a text message inviting all of the islanders to congregate around the fire pit.

Paige and Afia Tonkmor were invited to appear in front of their fellow co-stars because they were both uncoupled, and it was up to Jacques to determine who should stay and who should depart.

He said, ‘From day one we were in the villa, I found her attractive’.

‘The talks that I’ve had with her, I’m getting on with her more and more, and I want to see where it goes. The girl I would like to couple up with is Paige.’

This indicated that Afia’s stay in the villa was over.

‘Obviously, I’m going to miss everyone in the Villa, but I’m going to keep trying to find  love,’ Afia remarked.

‘I’m sure Mr. Right is somewhere out there,’ she added.

After a couple of heated days, tonight’s show disappointingly didn’t deliver on the drama, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed because two new guys are slated to enter the villa tomorrow.

If Davide and Ekin-surprise su’s appearance is any indication, we’re in for a treat!

Love Island returns tomorrow at 9pm on ITV2.
