Kelly Ripa says she fainted during sex with Mark Consuelos because of undiagnosed cysts

Kelly Ripa claims in her new autobiography that she passed out while having sex with her husband, Mark Consuelos.
The “traumatic” experience was caused by ovarian cysts, she stated in a Haute Living article.
Ovarian cysts are frequent and mostly innocuous, but if they rupture, they can be hazardous.

In her upcoming memoir “Live Wire: Long Winded Short Stories,” released on September 27, Kelly Ripa discusses her sexual life with husband Mark Consuelos.

In 1997, approximately six months after the birth of her first child, the “Live with Kelly and Ryan” host fainted during intercourse due to huge cysts on her ovaries. She awoke to find herself at the emergency room.

In an excerpt from the chapter “Don’t Let Your Husband Choose Your Death Clothes” provided by Haute Living, Ripa laments the fashion selection her husband made for her when she was asleep.

“Also, here is my husband, who is, dare I say, stylish, well-dressed at all times, and yet he dressed me like a dime store prostitute in my time of need,” she wrote. “It’s still baffling to me to this day that this is the best costume for the day that he could find for me, to the extent that, when I was on the stretcher, I thought I was dreaming; I was having a nightmare.

She said, “Sex can be so horrific, but one of us is utterly fearless.” Mark could be at a movie or a spa, but I’m laying on my back, wondering when the other two cysts will explode.

Ripa is not hesitant to discuss her relationship with Consuelos. After admirers remarked on a snapshot Ripa published, she revealed in 2020 that her spouse is well-endowed. The couple also claimed that “sexy time” resolves all of their marital issues.

Ovarian cysts are typical and in most cases harmless.

Ovaries are the female reproductive organs in which eggs form, mature, and are monthly discharged. Cysts, or fluid-filled sacs, commonly grow on them without causing any difficulties. According to the Mayo Clinic, women are frequently unaware that they have ovarian cysts, which typically resolve on their own.

However, cysts can occasionally rupture, producing blood and pain. According to the Mayo Clinic, vigorous activities like intercourse might raise the risk of rupture. “Weakness or dizziness” is one indication that a cyst has ruptured and is causing shock.

According to Hopkins Medicine, quick care is required in these situations. In the hospital, clinicians may administer pain medicine and fluids intravenously or, if necessary, perform surgery to avoid life-threatening internal bleeding.

It is unknown how Ripa’s cysts were treated or if they even burst.
