Kaizer Chiefs’ Dillan Solomons misses a penalty

Johannesburg – Dillan Solomons is proud of his ability to take and convert penalties. In fact, he desires to assist Kaizer Chiefs after his recent miss from 12 yards out.

Last season, Solomons was one of the designated penalty takers for Swallows. This season, he brought that job with him to Amakhosi.

He scored his first penalty kick for his new team. Last month at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, they defeated Richards Bay 1-0 thanks to a goal that was worth all three points.

But Solomons was unable to recreate his heroics earlier this month when he missed a penalty kick against AmaZulu in a league encounter that ended in a 0-0 draw.

However, Solomons is not moping and feeling sorry for himself. Instead, he has swiftly dusted himself off and is eager to make amends with Chiefs.

“I am proud of this accomplishment. I was the penalty taker for Swallows last season. And missing one is detrimental to me. “I dislike that,” he stated.

“However, you must accept these risks in football. I was disappointed with the manner in which I missed. I could have compelled the goalkeeper to make at least one save.

“The games are arriving rapidly. There is no time to even consider it. It’s a matter of lifting myself up and doing my best for the squad.”

Solomons may have the opportunity to redeem his error against Usuthu, as the two teams will meet in the MTN8 semi-finals, over two legs.

The first game will take place at FNB Stadium on Sunday, followed by the second match in Durban on October 23.

Solomons insists, though, that they must demonstrate their brilliance in the first leg at home before traveling to Moses Mabhida Stadium to face Usuthu.

“I do not believe we must change our identity. “We aim to play the same style at all times, but the game’s dynamics will be different because it’s a cup match,” he stated.

“We are aware that we must go out and win. We are playing our first game at home and cannot allow anyone to bring us anything.”
