Kaizer Chiefs boss Kaizer Motaung arrives at UCT where he will be given his honorary doctorate

Kaizer Motaung, the manager of Kaizer Chiefs, has arrived at the University of Cape Town (UCT), where he will receive an honorary doctorate in social sciences.

Motaung will be recognised for his contributions to South African football in a graduation ceremony TODAY, July 22, according to a City Press article from earlier this morning.

And now that momentous day has come, as Motaung was seen being greeted by members of his family, including his children Kaizer Motaung Jr. and Kemiso Motaung, when he arrived at UCT.

UCT honours Motaung in the presence of Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) CIC Julius Malema and a number of other party members.

The push to recognise the Chiefs founder for his enormous contributions to football while still alive was led by Malema and his party.

Given that Kaizer Chiefs is one of the greatest teams on the African continent, Motaung, 77, has an unrivalled football legacy in the nation.

While still a player, he established Kaizer XI following his return from the US in 1969. On January 7, 1970, he changed the club’s name to Kaizer Chiefs.

In addition, Motaung played a key role in the establishment of the National Soccer League (NSL) and Premier Soccer League (PSL), which were established in 1985 and 1996, respectively.
