Kaizer Chiefs’ Dillan Solomons misses penalty kick

Dillan Solomons takes great delight in accepting penalties and finishing them off. He cares so much about Kaizer Chiefs that he wants to provide a hand following his most recent 12-yard miss.

Solomons carried that duty with him to Amakhosi this season after being one of the designated penalty takers at Swallows last year.

His first penalty kick at his new team was successful. Last month, they defeated Richards Bay 1-0 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, with a goal that was worth all three points.

Solomons, however, was unable to replicate his feats of valor when he missed the penalty kick he was awarded against AmaZulu in the league earlier this month, which resulted in a 0-0 tie.

Solomons, though, is not moping about or feeling sorry for himself. He has instead immediately picked himself up and is eager to make up for missed time with the Chiefs.

I’m proud of it, to be honest. I took Swallows’ penalties the previous season. Missing one is bad for me, too. That bothers me,” he remarked.

But in football, you have to accept these things. With the manner I missed, I was disappointed. At the very least, I could have made the goalkeeper make a save.

The games are arriving quickly. There isn’t even time to consider it. It involves getting back up and working hard for the team as well.

Given that the two clubs will play in the MTN8 semi-finals over two legs, Solomons may have the opportunity to make up for his error against Usuthu.

The first game will take place on Sunday at FNB Stadium, while the second match will take place on October 23 in Durban.

But according to Solomons, it’s crucial that they demonstrate their strength during the first leg at home before going to Usuthu at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

“I don’t believe we need to alter who we are. Although the dynamics may alter since it’s a cup game, we want to play consistently in the same manner, he added.

“We are aware that we must compete and prevail. No visitors are permitted when we are at home since we are playing the first game there.
