Jessa Duggar, a former reality TV star, announced on her YouTube channel on Friday that she had a miscarriage over the holidays. In the 19-minute video titled “Heartbreak Over the Holidays,” the “19 Kids and Counting” alum recalled the tragic loss of her and husband Ben Seewald’s fifth child.
Duggar shared that she was concerned when she started spotting blood and was later informed at her next ultrasound appointment that the baby did not “look good.” She then underwent a dilation and curettage procedure to remove the fetus from her womb.
In the video, Duggar emotionally recounted the difficult moments of learning of the loss and said, “Nothing could have prepared me for the weight of those words in that moment.
At that moment, I was just in complete shock. I didn’t have words. I just immediately started crying.” She thanked her husband and their four children at the end of the video and revealed that she would be taking a break from social media.
This is not the first pregnancy loss that Duggar and Seewald have experienced. They previously shared that they had lost a baby before their daughter Fern was born. In 2021, they announced that they were expecting another child, and in July, their little girl was born. The “Counting On” alum married Seewald in 2014.
