Launch of Murder Investigation
Authorities have initiated a murder investigation after an elderly woman was fatally injured in her home in West London.
The incident has shocked the local community, raising concerns about safety in the area.
Discovery of the Victim and Arrest of a Suspect
Following concerns raised for the woman’s safety, detectives discovered the 77-year-old victim in her residence on Harold Road, Ealing, at approximately 6:40 pm on Sunday.
Sadly, paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene. A 74-year-old man, believed to be an acquaintance of the victim, was arrested under suspicion of murder but was subsequently rushed to the hospital due to health concerns.
Post-Mortem Results and Comments from Authorities
A specialized post-mortem conducted on Tuesday revealed the cause of the woman’s death to be a head injury.
Det Supt Rebecca Reeves, of the Metropolitan Police’s West Area Command, shared her thoughts on the matter: “I know that local people will be shocked by this incident and additional foot patrols are being conducted to reassure the community.
“Our colleagues from the Specialist Crime Command are progressing their investigation.
“One person has been arrested and we aren’t seeking anyone else in connection with this incident.
“I encourage anyone with concerns to speak with officers on patrol or contact their neighbourhood policing team.
“Our thoughts are very much with the victim’s family.”
