Hoda Kotb reveals mysterious “family health matter” that caused her to be away

Hoda Kotb, the news anchor of the “Today” show, has returned after an extended absence and revealed the mysterious “family health matter” that caused her to be away.

During the show, Kotb explained that her youngest daughter, Hope, was in the ICU for a few days and hospitalized for more than a week.

She expressed gratitude for the doctors, nurses, family, and friends who helped her during the health scare.

Kotb’s absence was first revealed on March 1 by Craig Melvin, who was filling in for her.

Kotb’s co-anchors, Savannah Guthrie, Jenna Bush Hager, Willie Geist, and Sheinelle Jones, have all expressed their love and support for her during her absence.

Kotb shares two daughters, Haley Joy and Hope Catherine, with her ex-fiancé, Joel Schiffman, whom she co-parents with.

Kotb’s return to the show follows a hiatus from posting family photos and news stories on her Instagram account.

Instead, she shared only inspirational quotes about hope, staying strong, and being brave amid dark clouds.

The veteran broadcast journalist has not announced when she will return to “Today” and “Today with Hoda & Jenna.”

In her absence, Melvin, Jones, Roker, Tom Llamas, and Carson Daly have all filled in as co-anchors.

Meanwhile, Guthrie has been absent from the news desk since she tested positive for COVID-19 on Feb. 28.

NBC has not shared when she will return to “Today.” Jones and Geist have been the only two people to co-host alongside Bush Hager for the fourth-hour show.
