During this year’s BAFTAs, Prince William, 40, broke down in tears when an homage to his late grandmother, the Queen, was given.
His 41-year-old wife, Kate Middleton, accompanied him as they down the red carpet for the illustrious event in London on Sunday night (19th Feb).
During a speech by Hollywood actress Dame Helen Mirren at the show’s ceremony, the renowned Royal figure allegedly started crying.
Helen, who played her Majesty in the 2006 film The Queen, paid a heartfelt homage to the late queen in her statement. She passed away on September 9, 2022, at the age of 96.
“Film at its finest accomplishes what Her Majesty accomplished easily — bring us together and unify us through a tale,” Dame Helen remarked as a special video played on the screen. Your Majesty, you were the brightest light in our country.
William sat next to Kate as they attended the ceremony as guests of honor, and he seemed to be crying at the time.
The Queen had a strong relationship with the Academy that lasted for 50 years. During that time, she donated money, supported causes, and attended several events.
In addition to William’s already-worn black velvet suit, Kate dazzled the audience on the BAFTAs red carpet with a white one-shouldered dress and matching black velvet gloves.
Her and William’s visit was their first appearance at the event in three years.
Kate wore earrings that matched her outfit and slicked back her brown hair behind her ears to show them off.
Fans couldn’t help but notice an embarrassing red carpet moment, despite the fact that the royal couple looked stunning as they arrived at the distinguished event.
As they move away from the cameras and inside the hall, Kate can be seen making a lovely gesture by attempting to cling onto William’s hand.
She reaches out to join his fingers, but William raises his hand to gesture at onlookers and utterly disregards her attempt.
