Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene questions VP Kamala Harris on Twitter

In an extraordinarily bold Twitter post on Monday, Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia questioned Vice President Kamala Harris whether her husband’s life was “worth less” because he is white.

The Republican firebrand was responding to Harris’ recent remarks that equitable distribution of disaster help in Puerto Rico and Florida should take precedence before equality.

“It is our lowest income areas and our communities of color that are most hit by these terrible circumstances and impacted by challenges that are not of their own doing,” she said during a panel discussion at the Democratic National Committee’s Women’s Leadership conference.

The vice president said to actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas, “And so we have to approach this in a manner that is about delivering resources based on equity, realizing that we fight for equality, but we also need to fight for equity, understanding not everyone starts out at the same position.”

“Sometimes we have to take into consideration such discrepancies if we want individuals to be in an equal situation,”

In her post on Monday, Greene compared Harris’ comments to discrimination.

Hurricanes don’t pick out victims based on the color of their skin, @KamalaHarris. The outspoken representative argued that hurricanes don’t care about race.

“And neither should the federal government, which is providing relief to those suffering from Hurricane Ian’s destruction.”

Is your husband’s life less valuable because he is white, she continued?

Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, Harris’ spouse, is white and Jewish.

Just a few days before, Greene was charged with making offensive remarks at a Donald Trump event in Michigan.

I won’t hold back when I speak to you all. Democrats have already begun murdering Republicans because they want them dead, according to Greene.

When asked by CBS News’ Face The Nation on Sunday to respond to Greene’s comments, Republican Senator Rick Scott changed his response to attacking Harris’ statement about “equity.”

Regarding Greene, Scott said, “I didn’t see what she said.”

But the vice president’s assertion that FEMA would treat individuals differently depending on their skin color is also unhelpful.

When questioned about Harris’ comments, FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell was compelled to reassure Americans that “all towns” affected by Hurricanes Fiona and Ian will get the resources they need.

Everybody is supported by our programs, Criswell said to Face The Nation.

“I would add that I think some of the things the vice president was talking about are the long-term rehabilitation and rebuilding these communities to be able to endure storms, so they can have less effect,” the speaker said.

We’re going to help all communities, she continued. I pledged to the governor and to you right here that all Floridians would be able to access the support made possible by our programs.
