Biden dismisses Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s claim

During a recent address at the yearly House Democratic retreat in Baltimore, President Biden dismissed a claim made by Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene that he was responsible for the fentanyl overdose deaths of two brothers. Biden reminded listeners that the brothers had died during the previous administration, under Donald Trump. Biden predicted that Greene’s extreme rhetoric would cause many people to leave the GOP.

He urged Democrats to highlight their legislative achievements and to work with Republicans who are not MAGA supporters.

Biden encouraged Democrats to run on their record, reminding them of the bipartisan infrastructure bill passed during the previous Congress. He suggested that Democrats could win by simply reminding people of what they have accomplished. However, he also acknowledged that there was still unfinished business, specifically mentioning immigration reform, police reform, and gun control.

He noted that many MAGA Republicans would not support these issues, but hoped that other Republicans would join them. Biden warned that if the GOP continued to embrace figures like Greene, it would drive many more people to support the Democrats.

In addition to discussing the GOP and the upcoming election, Biden also spoke about his recent meeting with Speaker Kevin McCarthy over the debt ceiling. He called it a decent meeting and said that McCarthy seemed like a decent guy. He also noted that the GOP had promised to release a budget in April and criticized them for not acting like a party that cares about fiscal responsibility.

Finally, he emphasized the importance of paying America’s bills and urged Republicans to work with him to find a solution.
