Four suspects arrested after the body of a 30-year-old man was found in the Olifants River

Police divers found the body of a 30-year-old man in the Olifants River on Thursday, resulting in the arrest of four suspects on Friday. Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, the police spokesperson, revealed that the suspects allegedly went to the victim’s father on Wednesday, February 22, claiming that the victim had jumped into the river and drowned. Mojapelo reported that they were with the victim at the time, who was bleeding.

According to the suspects, the victim had stolen money from them. He offered to pay it back on Saturday, but they refused and left with the victim. After a well-coordinated investigation, it was revealed that the suspects killed the victim before throwing his body into the river.

Limpopo Police Commission Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe praised the swift arrest of the four suspects, saying that justice should be seen to be done. The suspects are expected to appear before the Thabamoopo Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
