Murdering and dismembering of a Limpopo man: suspects arrested

An important development in the case has been recognised by the investigating team looking into the brutal murder of Hennie Venter from the Wildebeeslaagte Plot in Northam, Limpopo, who was dismembered.

On September 11, 2021, Hennie Venter, 37, was earlier reported missing. The discovery of a knife, panga, and an axe on the adjacent Plot earlier in July by a task team made up of members of numerous SAPS divisions was a significant breakthrough.

Police said that when the investigation into the Plot and its surroundings was stepped up, some remains thought to belong to the deceased were found.

The dismembered bodies were discovered scattered around the Plot in different locations.

After being definitely linked to the murder, two suspects were arrested.

According to Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, a spokesperson for the Limpopo Police, the first suspect was apprehended in Bloemfontein on July 17 and the second on Sunday in Northam.

According to Mojapelo, the victim was a friend of the suspects, and both of them are accused of killing him while he was visiting them. The suspects then dismembered his body and scattered the pieces around the Plot.

“The motive for the murder and how the victim was killed will be determined by further investigation. The remains were taken to the forensic department for DNA investigation to determine conclusive identification,” Mojapelo said.

This is one of the most horrifying occurrences that the region has seen, according to Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, the commissioner of the Limpopo Police.

“I applaud the investigating team led by Captain Du Plessis from Northam Detective Unit for the meticulous investigations which led to the subsequent arrest of the suspects. We hope justice will be served for the victim and everyone affected,” said Hadebe.
