Marizanne Kapp has been disqualified from competing in the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham

The all-rounder Marizanne Kapp has been disqualified from competing in the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, according to Proteas women’s coach Hilton Moreeng.

Following South Africa’s T20I series loss to England on Monday, Moreeng told media that Marizanne would not be participating in the Commonwealth Games.

After returning to Gqeberha for personal reasons, Kapp sat out the three-game series against England.

In the middle of 2019, Kapp wed his teammate Dane van Niekerk.

Kapp was a key player in South Africa’s tour of England, making 147 runs in the three-match ODI series and 193 runs in the lone Test.

The ladies of England won the ODI and T20 series 3-0 but the Test was tied.

At the Commonwealth Games, South Africa has been placed in Group B along with England, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka.

Each group’s top two teams advance to the semi-finals.

The fast bowler Shabnim Ismail and captain Sune Luus will also be available for South Africa’s debut match against New Zealand on Saturday, according to Moreeng.

It’s a safety measure from medical to ensure that they heal well and are at full strength for the first game, according to Moreeng.

“She (Sune) is recovering extremely well and will undoubtedly be able to bowl,” was the statement.

On Saturday, July 30th, play will begin in Edgbaston at 12:00. (SA time).

The 2018 Commonwealth Games will take place from July 28 through August 8, 2018.
