Police have apprehended a man in relation to the disappearance of Malgorzata Wnuczek, who went missing 17 years ago at the age of 27 in Leicester.
Following new information provided by colleagues in Poland, the police have initiated fresh searches of the River Soar, focusing on the area near the Mill Lane bridge.
Lengthy Investigation and Family’s Persistent Search for Answers
When Wnuczek’s family in Poland was unable to contact her, they alerted the police.
Since her disappearance in 2006, law enforcement had pursued over 2,500 lines of inquiry in their efforts to uncover her whereabouts.
The recent information from Polish authorities has prompted a reinvigorated search for answers.
Direct Appeal to Leicester Community and Polish Community
Detective Inspector Jenni Heggs made a direct appeal to the people of Leicester, particularly the Polish community, urging anyone with information to come forward.
With over 2,000 potential witnesses and more than 100 statements taken throughout the investigation, the police are still in the dark regarding Wnuczek’s fate.
Plea for Assistance and Importance of Even Seemingly Insignificant Details
Heggs emphasized the significance of any information, no matter how seemingly insignificant it may appear.
She urged individuals to come forward, as even the smallest details could potentially lead to a breakthrough in the case.
Wnuczek’s family has been living with uncertainty for over 17 years, and the police are determined to provide them with answers.
Public’s Help Requested and Ways to Report Information
The last public appeal regarding Wnuczek’s disappearance was made in 2016.
