The bombshell revelation that Cape Town DJ Luwayne Wonder had cheated on his ill wife after pleading for South Africa to help bring her back from Dubai has shaken the entertainment business.
The 37-year-old radio host, whose actual name is Luwayne Bouwers, made news in 2020 when he wrote a Facebook message to fans pleading for help.
When his wife Crystal Pretorius suffered brain damage from a hemorrhage when they were visiting Dubai, Bouwers phoned for help.
Two weeks before to the brain bleed episode, Pretorius—who worked as an SEO Manager in Dubai—had given birth to her youngest daughter. Three girls, ages 2, 5, and 9, belong to the couple.
Pretorius had a sudden occurrence that left her right side paralyzed, and Luwayne said that she needed to be flown to a hospital from her residence.
In order to raise R500 000 and get Pretorius out of the United Arab Emirates, where the couple had been working and residing for five years, Bouwers issued a public plea on October 5, 2020. Pretorius was in a coma.
They received support from friends and admirers all across the globe to help them meet their goal, thanks to a number of fund-raising activities and a Back-A-Buddy campaign.
The couple and their children safely returned to South Africa on December 10 after six procedures in Dubai.
Pretorius was hospitalized right after to a hospital in Cape Town, where she received further care beginning in December 2020 until being moved to another facility for rehabilitation on February 26, 2021.
Pretorius was on the path to recovery but acknowledged that she still had a long way to go after spending a year at home in South Field, Cape Town, with her husband and kids.
Pretorius contacted IOL Entertainment to share her experience. An emotional Pretorius claims that things then took a bad turn in an exclusive interview.
“Luwayne stated he no longer wanted to be with me because he couldn’t manage me in the situation I was in. He claimed he wouldn’t be able to take care of me.
The postings on Bouwers’ social media account, where he bragged about him and his girlfriend staying in a hotel room for his birthday weekend, shattered Pretorius, who said she experienced a lot throughout their marriage, particularly when they moved back home.
According to the mother of three, this wasn’t the first affair. However, she felt embarrassed by his making it public and wanted to share her side of the tale.
As a result, she wrote: “A full married guy! ” in her remark on her husband’s joyful Facebook post. Edna Hamilton and Luwayne Bouwers are quite elegant!
Pretorius struggles to talk because to a speech impediment brought on by the rapture; as a result, she conducts the interview at a speed that is comfortable for her.
She still cannot see out of her left eye, but she can now move her right leg, which was paralyzed a few months ago. She can move about in her wheelchair with this, and she is improving each time.
She said: “The words are in my head and they’re all there ready to come out, but it takes a little longer to come out of my lips because it gets caught in the process. But I know what I want to say, and I’m finally ready to tell my truth.
In a Facebook post, she made the following statement: “Luwayne quit being my husband not long after we arrived back to Cape Town, I don’t believe he was prepared to take care of his now crippled wife.
He stopped talking to me when we shared a home, leaving me alone for months. He just informed me one day that he did not want to cope with this and left. I moved back home to live with my family in approximately February of this year.
“I’ve known for months about his relationship with Edna Hamilton. He informed me that he had found someone and was content. What became of the phrase “in sickness and in health”?
“I’m weary of him appearing like the decent guy when he treated me like trash. He was only there for the wonderful life I gave for him.
I’ll always be appreciative to my in-laws, particularly his mother, who stepped in to take my kids and care for them without hesitation. She is performing well.
“My reality is so much more, but I’ll soon reveal it all,” I said.
“Luwayne continues on forcing me to give him money while I’m living off a disability allowance, and it barely gets me by, but he would come to where I now reside, to urge me to give him money,” she added.
“He even demanded money from the things and shoes I had to sell to get money.
I was saddened when he once returned to demand R800 from me and even told me that he loved the new lady he was seeing. When my family arrived, he departed but insisted that he would come the following day for the money. I reluctantly gave him the money in order to block him from meeting anybody else.
Bouwers confirmed the incident to IOL Entertainment, saying: But it was the only time; apart from the R800, I never asked her for cash.
According to Pretorius, Bouwers misappropriated the money given by friends and relatives.
“His goal was to earn R500 000 to send us home, but he raised more more than that and spent money on an Audi vehicle, clothing, takkies, and other pleasures when we returned home.
He attempted to get me to sign a document saying I wouldn’t want to claim half of the vehicle if we were divorced when he indicated he didn’t want to be with me any longer, but I refused to sign anything and left.
We don’t own any assets jointly, so if we got divorced, there wouldn’t be anything to divide. However, since he was concerned about the automobile, he chose to sell the car and get a Polo, which he is now driving.
I believe he has leftover coin from selling the Audi since he hasn’t been up to bother me for money again.
Bouwers declined to comment on Pretorius’s other claims, but he did promise to address them when he is prepared, according to IOL Entertainment.
